My name is Lennos Muchemwa and born on 23/10/72. I am a Zimbabwean visual artist residing in South Africa since end of 2015. By profession, I am a former art and design teacher who has been independently practicing as both a graphic and fine artist for more than 20 years.
Although I have been running independently for this long, I have had opportunities along the way to take part in group exhibitions alongside some of Zimbabwe’s renowned visual artists like Valentine Magutsa. I hold a B. Tech (Hns) degree in creative art and design from Chinhoyi University of Technology.
My creative production is so diversified that my pieces may not be accurately identified by a single creative personal style. However, my pieces largely fall under the following categories: paintings, drawings, engravings, sculpture, graphics, printmaking, ceramics, textiles and installations. My production is not that limited to the old and new schools of art although these schools are foundational to my artistic and creative prowess. It is therefore from this view that I find joy in exercising unlimited creative creations in my diversified art pieces.
My subject matter is open-ended as I can work from anything depending on what the creative intention is meant to achieve or portray. How I create and produce my art pieces is largely determined by both the subject matter and the creative intention in each series or particular piece.
My art pieces express how I perceive and understand my subject matter at hand and the iconography in it. Where the subject matter relates to humanity, my creation tries to capture the narratives about issues affecting them and how they limit them from development and access to opportunities.
