Steve Norris

Artist's Bio

Steve is a self-taught watercolour artist who was born and raised in what was called Rhodesia, Southern Africa. Around the age of four he discovered his love of creating images in pencil. Later this developed into watercolour painting. Slowly over the next 70 years, he became a self-taught artist as circumstances allowed.

Although not prolific, his work has been bought by art lovers and collectors in Southern Africa, Britain and beyond. Known primarily as a landscape painter, Steve’s works include cityscapes such as ‘Shopping in Capri’ and ‘Meeting at Browns’ that include figures to add an extra ‘life’ dimension to his work.

After marrying in 1977, he moved around between England and Africa before finally settling in Bristol where he found time to paint. He produced an architectural series of famous old Cape Dutch estates around Cape Town. Once settled in England he painted urban and landscape scenes with loose impressionist style.

Now based in Sussex, he enjoys en plein air painting when the weather allows. He is a member of the Sussex Watercolour Society. His work is available online, from local exhibitions and also Findon Framing Company in Broadwater near Worthing.
